Cooch Behar Accident: 10 of Cooch Behar died due to a short circuit in a car loaded with pilgrims

In a terrible accident, ten pilgrims died due to electrocution in the car on their way to Jalpeshwar Shiva temple from Cooch Behar. Another 15 to 16 people were heavily injured. While crossing a bridge, a short circuit occurs from the generator in the car. The entire incident has cast a shadow of grief on the area.

Every year in the month of Sawan, there is a rush to visit the Shiva temple in Jalpeshwar. On Sunday night, a group of pilgrims from Shitalakuchi in Cooch Behar pressed into a pick-up van and headed towards the Jalpeshwar temple. Most of the pilgrims were young. There was a generator to play DJ music in the car.

As per the reports, the car suddenly short-circuited while crossing the Changrabandhar Bridge. As a result of which, several devotees were electrocuted. It is believed that the accident happened from the generator in the car.

The electrocuted people were rushed to the local Changrabandha Hospital but were not saved. Doctors declared ten pilgrims dead in the hospital. Another 16 people were admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. Many of them are in critical condition. Six of them have been referred to Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital.
