Late Thursday evening, the cargo ship ‘MV LILA NORFOLK’ was reported to be hijacked near the coast of Somalia. The Indian Navy is closely monitoring the situation and has deployed a warship, INS Chennai, to address the incident. The hijacked vessel has 15 Indians among its crew, and communication has been established with them.

Military officials received information about the hijacking off the coast of Somalia, prompting swift action by the Indian Navy. Navy aircraft are actively surveilling the ship, and INS Chennai has been dispatched to handle the situation and ensure the safety of the crew.

The incident highlights the challenges posed by piracy in certain maritime regions, and the Indian Navy’s response underscores the commitment to safeguarding Indian seafarers and maritime interests in the face of such threats. Efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the hijacked vessel and its crew, and the situation is being closely monitored for further developments.
