On Friday, police custody of Bernard N Marak, accused of operating a “brothel” at his Tura-based farmhouse and involving in “nefarious acts,” was extended by 6 more days.
After the Investigation Officer urged for further interrogation, The Court of Judicial Magistrate in Tura – D.G. Kharshiing granted another 6 days to Marak.
Six minors- four boys and two girls- were rescued from the location when the Meghalaya Police raided the Rimpu Bagan farmhouse.
The SP, West Garo Hills district, said, “They were found locked inside dingy cabin-like unhygienic rooms at Rimpu Bagan run by Bernard N Marak and his accomplices as a ‘brothel’ for prostitution,”
During the raid, the raid found nearly 400 bottles of liquor and over 500 unused condoms. The farmhouse incorporates 30 small rooms from where 73 people were arrested for their indulgence in “nefarious acts,”
35 gelatin sticks, 100 detonators apart from four crossbows and 15 arrows have been impounded from the farmhouse by the security forces.
On July 25, Bernard N Marak was held from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh.
Marak claimed, “The CM is getting desperate as he knows he is losing his South Tura seat to the BJP. The raid at my farmhouse is a desperate attempt by him to tarnish my image and a political vendetta,”
