Bernard Marak: Meghalaya BJP leader who accused of running a brothel arrested from UP

BJP’s Meghalaya vice-president Bernard N Marak, accused of operating a brothel at his farmhouse in Tura, has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Yesterday, a Tura court issued a non-bailable warrant against the BJP leader.

The brothel was reportedly being run in a farmhouse known as Rimpu Bagan. This farmhouse belongs to Marak. The police raided the farmhouse based on intelligence inputs.

West Garo Hills SP Vivekanand Singh said, “The six children who have been rescued were locked up in dirty rooms in Rimpu Bagan. It is alleged that it was being run as a brothel for prostitution by Bernard N Marak and his associates. He said that all the rescued children had been handed over to the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) for safety and further necessary action.

The SP also said that around 400 liquor bottles and about 500 unused condoms were recovered during the raid. The official said that there are 30 small rooms in this farmhouse.

“In addition to the present case, several verbal complaints were being received by respected residents of Tura city area that several unethical activities were going on in Rimpu Bagan owned by Bernard N Marak,” a police statement said.
