‘Shubh Parinay’ Mass Wedding Event in Nalbari Under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Initiative

In a heartwarming celebration of love and tradition, the District Administration of Nalbari orchestrated the 'Shubh Parinay,' a mass wedding event held at Sri Sri Hari Mandir in Nalbari town under the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' initiative. Ten couples exchanged vows, partaking in Assamese wedding rituals and engaging in customary games, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the families involved.

The ‘Shubh Parinay’ event, organized by the District Administration of Nalbari, brought together ten couples in a celebration of love and commitment. Held at Sri Sri Hari Mandir in Nalbari town, the mass wedding was conducted under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative, symbolizing the empowerment and education of girls.

The occasion was adorned with traditional Assamese wedding rituals, capturing the essence of the region’s cultural heritage. Couples participated in customary wedding games and engaged in age-old practices, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

Thousands of people from various parts of the lower Assam district attended the event, witnessing the union of ten couples. Responding to the District Administration’s appeal, individuals, including the District Minister, DC, SP, and prominent citizens, generously sponsored the wedding expenses, exemplifying a remarkable display of community support and solidarity.

In addition to celebrating love and tradition, the District Administration promoted a Green Wedding initiative, ensuring the entire celebration remained plastic-free and aligned with sustainable practices. This commitment to environmental consciousness added an extra layer of responsibility to the joyous occasion.

Varnali Deka, IAS, District Commissioner, Nalbari, expressed the inclusive ethos behind the initiative, stating, “The idea is that every Beti of the District is a Beti of District administration, of all Departments, Hon MLAs, Ministers and every person of the District, and here we will all augment the role of the ‘Ma’r ghor’ or ‘Mayka’ of the girl.”
