Strict administration rules in force for cabs plying in Guwahati

A meeting of officials and drivers of the agencies was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Pallava Gopal Jha at the District Commissioner’s Office to end the recent clash of passengers with various cab services in the city like Ola, Uber, Rapido, Pay-India, etc.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bipul Kumar Das, Assistant Commissioner of Transport Gautam Das, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Hiranya Barman, and officials concerned in the meeting has laid down some policies for the services of the cabs in the district without passenger inconvenience.

Accordingly, the cab drivers will have to wear specific uniforms from now on.

Destination and fare have to be displayed once the passenger boarded the vehicle. AC has to be operated in a four-wheeler. The driver will not be able to ‘cancel’ the journey if they feel like it. Each company must have a local office. Nodal officers have to be deployed in the local office.

The company has to resolve the complaints within the driver, owner, or agency at the earliest. The company must maintain online and offline facilities to collect fares.
