On Thursday, Assam Police seized a record number of illegal drugs in the city. The city police seized a large quantity of phensedyl from Nijrapar in West Boragaon. The victims rented a house and stored the drugs. They also smuggled drugs to the international market. The two main accused are involved in international smuggling.
The Crime Branch and Garhchuk police conducted a joint operation on a tip-off. The 101 sacks of banned phensedyl syrup were seized from the suspects. Police seized 30,000 bottles of phensedyl cough syrup with an international market value of Rs 12 crore.
In one of the biggest seizures of cough syrup by @GuwahatiPol so far, 30,000 bottles of Phensedyl have been recovered. The consignment was being sent to a neighbouring country.

Police arrested three people involved in the smuggling. The smugglers were identified as Hafizur Rahman and Mojibur Rahman. Joint Commissioner of Police Parth Sarathi Mohanty said the two were involved in international smuggling.
The other arrested person was identified as Mridul Malakar, a resident of West Boragaon. The goods are shipped from West Bengal, stored in Guwahati, and then shipped to Myanmar and Bangladesh. But this time, the plan failed. Police have registered a case and are questioning the victim for further information.
