Guwahati: Urgent instructions from District Collector given in view of heavy rains – Emergency helpline no issued

In view of heavy rain, Kamrup Metro DC urges people not to go outside of the house unnecessary. On an urgent basis, the statement was circulated on June 14th to the people of Kamrup Metro.

It is worth mentioning that heavy rainfall has been downpouring in the city since yesterday evening. The roads are clogged with water, and several landslide incidents have also been reported in the town.

Yesterday, 4 people lost their lives due to a landslide in the Boragaon area. Another landslide incident was also reported in the Noonmati area in Guwahati.

Citizens are requested to contact the given phone numbers whenever necessary. District Administration releases a few emergency contact numbers. They are mentioned as follows.

It is worth mentioning that, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for hefty rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya for the next few days.

The Met Office informed that the monsoon had covered the entire northeastern region. The red alert for IMD warns the state disaster management agencies to be on their toes and take precautions to prevent possible eventualities due to excess rainfall.
