The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati, operated by the Adani Group, has reported robust performance in the first quarter of FY2025, registering double-digit growth in both passenger traffic and aircraft movements, according to an official statement released on Friday.
Between April and June this year, the airport handled over 18 lakh passengers, marking a 15.37% increase from the 15 lakh passengers recorded during the same period in FY2024. Additionally, aircraft movements rose by 11.41%, reaching 12,470, up from 11,193 in the previous year.
The busiest day of the quarter was April 10, when the airport saw a single-day footfall of 21,594 passengers.
“This performance reaffirms the airport’s role as a critical aviation hub in Northeast India and reflects the increasing demand for air connectivity across the region,” the statement said.
The top three destinations for passengers flying from Guwahati remained Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, continuing to dominate travel preferences in and out of Assam’s capital.
The airport’s consistent growth is seen as a reflection of the region’s expanding economy, improved connectivity, and increased tourism and business activity. LGBIA remains a pivotal link between the Northeast and the rest of the country, with further expansion plans expected in the coming years.
