Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially declared the Class 12 examination results for the academic year 2025 today, May 13. Students who appeared for the exams can now access their results through various official platforms, marking the culmination of their senior secondary education.
Regional performance analysis shows Vijayawada region emerging as the top performer with an outstanding pass percentage of 99.60%, followed closely by Trivandrum at 99.32% and Chennai at 97.39%. This regional disparity highlights varying educational outcomes across different parts of the country.
In a continuation of trends seen in recent years, female students have maintained their academic edge with a 91.64% pass rate, while male students recorded 85.70% – a significant difference of 5.94 percentage points. This gender gap in performance has remained consistent over several examination cycles.

Pass Criteria and Next Steps
The passing criteria requires students to secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject (theory and practical combined) to clear both individual subjects and the overall examination.
For students who couldn’t clear one subject, compartment exams offer a second chance, typically scheduled in July. The official timetable for these exams is expected to be announced in June on the CBSE website.
The board also offers options for verification of marks, obtaining scanned copies of answer sheets, and re-evaluation. Applications for these services usually open within 1-2 weeks after result declaration.
Education experts note that the consistently higher performance by female students reflects broader educational trends. “This gender gap in academic performance at the school level continues to be significant and merits further analysis,” said Dr. Anita Sharma, an education policy analyst in Delhi.
Students are advised to download and securely store their digital mark sheets and certificates for future reference, noting that these online documents are provisional until they collect original mark sheets from their respective schools.
For any discrepancies or issues with results, students are encouraged to contact their school authorities or reach out to CBSE through official channels.
