In the world of entertainment, actors often draw inspiration from real-life personalities to bring authenticity to their on-screen characters. For actress Zoya Hussain, her role as IPS officer Amrita Singh in the upcoming web series “Grahan” found its muse in the dynamic and charismatic Assam IPS officer Sanjukta Parashar.
Hussain, who has several relatives in the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and friends with parents in the services, expressed her admiration for the disciplined and extensive training that civil servants undergo. While she didn’t meet anyone specifically to model her character, she found herself enamored by Sanjukta Parashar’s presence and conduct.
“I was enamoured by Sanjukta Parashar – how she speaks, how she conducts herself. There is a lighter side to her, but she is extremely dynamic and charismatic,” said Zoya Hussain, revealing the inspiration behind her portrayal of the IPS officer in “Grahan.”
The web series, inspired by Satya Vyas’ popular novel “Chaurasi,” delves into the world of crime and politics, making Parashar’s real-life experiences as an IPS officer a fitting source of inspiration for Hussain’s character.
Joining Hussain in the series are veteran actors Pavan Malhotra, Anshuman Pushkar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Teekam Joshi, and Sahidur Rahman, who play pivotal roles in the eight-episode series directed by Ranjan Chandel. Shailendra Jha serves as the showrunner for “Grahan,” which is slated for release on June 24, 2024, on the Disney+ Hotstar platform.
