The wait for Kia car lovers is about to end. Kia India is going to launch its electric model EV6 on June 2. However, the company plans to sell this car in limited numbers.

The architecture of this car, which will be launched on June 2, is based on the Hyundai Group’s E-GMP. This EV (electric vehicle) will also take on the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is likely to be launched in India sometime this year. At the same time, Kia will start booking for the EV6 crossover from May 26.

According to media reports, the Kia EV6 will offer only 100 units in India. It is expected to be between Rs 55 to 60 lakhs.

Globally, the EV6 comes with two powertrain options. One with a 58kWh battery pack and another 77.4kWh larger unit. This electric car will be available in the GT-Line trim, equipped with a 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It is claimed that this car will give a range of 528 km once fully charged. Both are offered in rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) layouts.

The sources revealed that the Indian model would likely come with only a 77.4kWh battery pack. At the same time, Kia is expected to offer the new EV6 in rear-wheel-drive, single-motor and, all-wheel-drive, dual-motor. The rear-wheel-drive model with this larger battery pack produces 229hp and 350Nm, while the all-wheel-drive variant makes 325hp and 605Nm.

Kia is expected to offer the EV6 in India with two charger options. A 50kW charger requires 73 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent, and another 350kW unit can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

All kinds of features have been made available in it. This includes ventilated front seats, wireless chargers, rain-sensing wipers, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The car will also compete with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, based on the same platform. However, unlike the EV6, the Ioniq 5 will be assembled in India, which is expected to give Hyundai a much lower price tag.
