In a shocking incident in Guwahati’s Christian Basti area, police have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly murdering a 51-year-old woman and attacking her daughter following what authorities describe as a “relationship dispute.”
Dispur police arrested Abhimanyu Debnath, a resident of West Tripura district, on Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed Suparna Das Choudhary multiple times, killing her on the spot. The victim’s daughter Priyanjali, who was reportedly in a relationship with the accused, was also injured in the attack.
“Suparna Das Choudhary ran a paying guest accommodation and lived there with her daughter Priyanjali,” said Dispur Officer-in-Charge Bhaskar Malla Patowary. “From preliminary investigation, we have found that Debnath forcibly entered the PG with the intention of attacking Priyanjali over a relationship dispute between them.”
According to police, when the mother intervened to protect her daughter, Debnath allegedly turned his aggression toward her, stabbing her multiple times. Authorities confirmed that Suparna Das Choudhary died at the scene from her injuries.
