A disturbing incident was reported at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Saturday night after a young woman’s body was allegedly abandoned on the premises by a man attempting to escape, police said. The deceased has been identified as Pompi Das. According to police, she had attended a late-night party at a hotel in Islampur, where several high-profile guests were present. She reportedly fell ill during the party and was taken to GMCH by a man identified as Imran Khan in his auto-rickshaw. Doctors at GMCH declared her dead upon arrival. Soon after, Imran allegedly tried to escape from the hospital. He was stopped by hospital security personnel and handed over to the police. Police have seized his mobile phone, which reportedly contains photos and contact details of several women. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and police have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and the role of individuals present at the Islampur party.
