MV Ganga Vilas, which is the longest river cruise in the world, will end its trip on Tuesday in Dibrugarh, Assam. On January 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the MV Ganga Vilas a send-off in Varanasi. From there, it started its journey.”The voyage of the MV Ganga Vilas will conclude on February 28 in Dibrugarh.”
According to an IWAI release, the Inland Waterways Authority of India, under the auspices of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, will have a welcoming ceremony in Dibrugarh on the same day. Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and other federal and state ministers will attend the ceremony.

After reaching Dibrugarh on February 28 via Patna Sahib, Bodh Gaya, Vikramshila, Dhaka, the Sudarbans, and Kaziranga National Park, the voyage will have travelled 3,200 kilometres over the course of more than 50 days, covering a total journey of 3,200 kilometres. The cruise ship has three decks, 18 suites, and a passenger capacity of 36. It is already reserved for return trips for the next two years.
“The MV Ganga Vilas has placed India and Bangladesh on the global river cruise map, thereby creating a new horizon and vertical for tourist and cargo transport in the Indian subcontinent.” Visitors interested in spirituality have the option of visiting Kashi, Bodh Gaya, Vikramshila, and Patna Sahib, while those interested in natural diversity will visit the Sundarbans and Kaziranga.
Sonowal said, “This route marks the beginning of a new era of freight transportation on India’s and Bangladesh’s interior waterways.”
