Two policemen swept away by Flood in Assam’s Nagaon district

On Sunday night, in a tragic incident, two police personnel were swept away by flood in Assam’s Nagaon district. The two police personnel were identified as officer-in-charge Samujjal Kakoti and UB constable Rajiv Bordoloi.

SDRF force recovered the body of constable Rajiv Bordoloi later that night, but there was no sign of officer Kakoti’s body. On Monday morning SI Kakoti’s body was also recovered dead.

In a series of Tweet, Assam ADGP GP Singh said – “Late last night information was received of some people marooned in flood water, OC Samujjal Kakoti along with team had proceeded on Ops to rescue the marooned people. The mortal remains of OC SI Samujjal Kakoti have now been recovered. We bow our head in grief and gratitude. 🙏”

He also wrote – “We salute your courage and bravery Sub Inspector Samujjal Kakoti. You sacrificed your life without batting an eyelid. Your selfless act would be an inspiration to future generations of @assampolice We bow our head in grief and gratitude. Om Shanti

Deceased Kakoti hails from the Changsari area in the Kamrup district of Assam, while constable Rajiv Bordoloi was from Nagaon’s Hujgaon.

According to reports, the police personnel were out for an investigation near the Madhapur area of Kampur. During that operation, they fell into a water body. To save the colleagues, OC SI Samujjal Kakoti jumped into the water. Also, UB constable Rajib Bordoloi lost his life during the rescue operation.

It is worth mentioning that their brave effort saved the lives of two other police personnel.
