Bhattadev University has achieved a significant milestone in the field of academic excellence and research, with three of its faculty members being recognized among the top five percent of scientists worldwide in the 2025 SciRank Global Registry.

The distinguished recognition has been conferred upon Vice-Chancellor Professor Dhanapati Deka, Assistant Professor of Physics Dr. Debajyoti Dutta, and Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Biswajit Changmai. Their inclusion in the prestigious global ranking highlights the growing research footprint of Bhattadev University and underscores the institution’s contribution to scientific advancement at the international level.

The achievement is being viewed as a matter of pride not only for the university but also for Assam’s higher education and research community. The SciRank Global Registry evaluates scientists based on various research performance indicators, including scholarly publications, citations, research impact and academic influence within their respective disciplines.

Professor Dhanapati Deka, who currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor of Bhattadev University, has built an extensive academic and research career spanning more than three decades. Before assuming the role of Vice-Chancellor, he served as Professor in the Department of Energy at Tezpur University and held several key academic and administrative positions. His research contributions in the fields of renewable energy, biofuels, biomass valorisation and sustainable energy systems have earned international recognition. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), awarded in 2023, and has authored more than 85 research papers while leading several national and international collaborative research projects.

Dr. Debajyoti Dutta of the Department of Physics has established himself as a noted researcher in particle physics and neutrino phenomenology. A former Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, he has contributed extensively to research on neutrino oscillations, sterile neutrinos and long-baseline neutrino experiments. His work has been published in several internationally reputed journals, reflecting a sustained contribution to high-energy physics research.

The recognition of Dr. Biswajit Changmai further strengthens Bhattadev University’s reputation as an emerging centre of scientific research and innovation. Together, the three academicians represent diverse fields of scientific inquiry and demonstrate the university’s growing presence in global academic rankings.
