Himani Gurung, a graduate student from Tezpur University, has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the only candidate from Assam and the entire Northeast region selected to participate in the Aditya-L1 trial workshop — a prestigious event organized in connection with India’s first solar mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The workshop, which will be held from August 20 to 22 at a university in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is designed to engage emerging scholars and researchers in solar science and space research. Himani’s selection marks a moment of pride for Assam and the Northeast, underlining the increasing involvement of students from the region in the cutting-edge domain of space science.
The Aditya-L1 mission, launched by ISRO, represents India’s first dedicated mission to study the Sun. It is aimed at understanding solar activities and their impact on space weather, a field of growing global significance. The upcoming workshop is expected to provide in-depth exposure to participants, combining lectures from top scientists with hands-on sessions.
