A new Taj Gateway five-star hotel has been proposed at Jagiroad after the Assam Cabinet approved the draft lease deed for the project on Tuesday. The lease agreement will be entered into by Assam Industrial Development Corporation Limited (AIDC Ltd.) and Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL).
The Cabinet also approved several rural infrastructure works under the VB-G RAM G scheme, to be funded through Finance Commission grants and other eligible sources.
The proposed hotel is expected to strengthen Jagiroad's commercial infrastructure and bring a major hospitality brand to the emerging industrial and economic centre. The project is also part of the state government's efforts to attract private investment and improve supporting infrastructure around developing economic hubs.
The Cabinet's rural infrastructure decision covers priority works including interlocking paver block roads, rural haats led by women, school boundary walls, crematoriums, waiting sheds and individual beneficiary schemes. Community halls are also included in the list and can be used as gyms or wellness centres.
