Celebrated Assamese singer Gayatri Hazarika passed away at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati on May 16, 2025, following a prolonged battle with colon cancer. She was 44 years old. Hospital officials confirmed that the singer breathed her last at approximately 2:15 PM, ending her courageous fight against the illness that had challenged her in recent years.
Hazarika rose to prominence with her hauntingly beautiful rendition of “Xora Pate Pate Phagun Naame,” a track that became her signature piece and established her distinctive voice in Assamese music.
