Principal Secretary of the State Rajesh Prasad passes away today at Swagat Superspecialty Hospital in Maligaon at 2.30 pm. The officer had been undergoing treatment for several diseases along with Covid-19 complications since July.
He was 52 years old at the time of his death.
Talking to twitter Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote – “Deeply saddened by the demise of Principal Secretary Rajesh Prasad, who passed away in Guwahati due to post-COVID complications. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. May his ātman attain sadgati. Om Shanti!”

Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu expressed his deep condolences over the untimely death of the officer.
He wrote – “Deeply saddened to know about the passing away of Principal Secretary, senior IAS officer, Shri Rajesh Prasad. He was a truly good officer and good person. May his soul rest in eternal peace. My condolences to the bereaved family and prayers for their well-being.”

Principal Secretary Rajesh Prasad was a 1995 Indian Administrative Service officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
