Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has successfully contained a gas release incident that occurred at its Rudrasagar Field in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Thursday morning, with no injuries reported and the situation now fully under control.
The incident took place around 11:45 AM at Well No. RDS-147 during routine servicing operations when personnel observed sudden gas gushes from the well. ONGC immediately activated its emergency response protocols, securing the site and deploying specialized teams to handle the situation.
In an official statement, ONGC confirmed that no fire outbreak occurred during the incident and all personnel at the site remained safe. The company’s emergency response team, led by the Asset Manager, was promptly dispatched to the location to assess and manage the situation.
“The situation is now fully under control,” ONGC stated, emphasizing that standard safety protocols were followed throughout the emergency response. The oil and gas major has mobilized reinforcement teams and technical experts to ensure safe and rapid normalization of well operations.
The Rudrasagar Field, located in Sivasagar district, is one of ONGC’s key operational areas in Assam. The state plays a crucial role in India’s oil and gas production, with several ONGC installations across the region contributing significantly to the country’s energy output.
