He belongs to the evergreen Northeast Region in India. He grows up, inhaling its air. And now on a mission to make mainland India aware of its beautiful landscapes, tradition, culture and everything related to the region.
Yes, we are talking about Rajon Das. A 25 years old youth from Assam’s Karimganj district. He is now on a mission to spread awareness about the rich culture and traditions of the Northeast region.
Rajon Das started his journey barefoot to draw the attention of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to introduce a chapter on the rich culture and tradition of the Northeast, especially for the students of class IX and class X in its textbooks.
Rajon started his journey from Tripura’s famous Sundari temple on May 22. On his first leg, he headed towards the kamakhya temple from Silchar. As the last leg of this journey, he will travel through Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. He wanted to finish his journey in two and a half months.
Talking to the media, he said – “I walk nearly 12-13 hours a day and hope to complete entire journey in two and a half months.” He added, “people from mainland India don’t know much about the Northeast. So, my endeavor is to make them aware of the beautiful landscape, tradition, culture and everything related to it.”
When asked more about his mission to introduce a chapter on NE in NCERT textbooks, he said the introduction would make Northeast familiar to its students. Eventually, it will help its growth and development soon.
It is worth mentioning that last year, he travelled from Assam to Ladakh’s Khardungla on his bicycle to promote Northeast.
