Majuli Music Festival is an annual music festival held in November in the beautiful naturescape of Majuli by the bank of river Brahmaputra and its tributaries. The event comprises live music performances by independent artists from different parts of India.
With a vision to promote rural tourism, uplift the local community and make Majuli self-sufficient, Majuli Music Festival aims to provide enthusiasts with a plethora of experiences through music, art, culture, food and the traditional Rice Wine, of course.
It is India’s one of biggest Indie Music Festivals to let loose and unwind the experience of living on an island, the local style, while exchanging cultures and making new friends from across India and the globe.
Everything amidst the island’s stunning natural beauty around refreshing greenery, by the side of river Brahmaputra and its tributaries Kherkotia under an open sky!

About Majuli –
Majuli is a river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam, and in 2016, it became the first island to be made a district in India. It had an area of 1,255 square kilometers (485 sq mi) at the beginning of the 20th century, but having lost significantly to erosion, it covers 352 square kilometers (136 sq mi) as of 2014. Majuli has shrunk as the river surrounding it has grown
The Brahmaputra River forms the island in the south, and the Kherkutia Xuti, an anabranch of the Brahmaputra, is joined by the Subansiri River in the north. Majuli island is accessible by ferries from the city of Jorhat.
The island is about 300–400 kilometers (186–249 mi) east of the state’s largest city —Guwahati. It was formed due to course changes by the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries, mainly the Lohit. Majuli is the abode of the Assamese neo-Vaishnavite culture.
Majuli is since 2004 on the UNESCO Tentative List for nomination as a World Heritage Site.
Majuli Music Festival 2021 –
With the tagline ‘Music For Change’ with a vision to promote rural tourism and uplift the economy, preserve the indigenous music, art and culture and food habits and let people explore the eco-diversity of Majuli, the Majuli Music Festival was held from November 15 to November 17.
A Carbon neutral initiative is the introduction of an E-rickshaw at the festival venue to contribute to the carbon-neutral initiative and also an environmental awareness campaign and Mental Health Awareness Campaign to contribute towards Swacch Bharat Mission and to encourage people to break the social stigma associated with mental health disorders by giving them a platform to share their stories.
