Guwahati has become the epicenter of Maharashtra politics. 40 dissident MLAs from Maharashtra are camped in Guwahati this morning. The delegation, led by Minister Eknath Sinha, has arrived in Guwahati, and at the same time, the Thackeray government is now shaken.
Eknath Sinha, who led the controversy, claimed he had the support of 40 Shiv Sena MLAs and six Independent MLAs. Indirectly, he has explained that he holds the key to retaining the government in Maharashtra. However, the Shiv Sena leader claimed he would not leave the party.
The CM of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma, declined to comment on the matter. “We have good hotels in Guwahati. So everyone should come to Guwahati so that business in Guwahati grows. A person staying in a hotel means we will get GST and earn. So if the country’s political epicenter as well as abroad is in Guwahati, I would like it. The state government needs money at this time. We will get taxes if the hotel rooms are full during this time. So if Assam is empty now, how can we cope with the floods?”
“The state is flooded at this time. We are in financial trouble. If tourists from all over India come and stay in hotels in Assam during this time, we will earn money from it. So if Lakshmi comes, will you chase Lakshmi away? A state that says no to Lakshmi cannot develop,” he said.
“There are 40 people who have come today. But unfortunately, there are no hotel rooms booked at this time. So everywhere is empty,” he said.
“It doesn’t come like a flood. Now, it is a positive thing that people can come and stay in Assam even during floods. So what’s wrong with this? As of this moment, I have not heard from them.” – He added.
