Over one lakh earthen lamps were lit up at the iconic Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati this evening coinciding with the Ram Mandir’s consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

Devotees thronged the Shakti Peeth shrine on Nilachal Hill since morning to participate in the grand ‘deepotsav’ celebrations.

The lighting of diyas marked a gesture of spiritual solidarity on the day of Ram Lalla’s consecration at the new Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh.

Kamakhya Temple – dedicated to mother goddess Kamakhya – is the centre for Tantric worship in Assam. The Ambubachi festival held there annually celebrates the deity’s menstruation period.
