The order to close the jeep safari and elephant safari to guests was issued by Kaziranga National Park on Wednesday. The closure will take place from April 6 to April 8, 2023.

The celebration of Gaj Utsav will result in the cancellation of safaris in the following parks: Kaziranga, Bagori, Burhapahar, and Agoratoli.

Gaj Utsav is a festival that is celebrated to raise awareness about the National Heritage animal of India. This event is being put on by the Environment and Forest Department of the Government of Assam in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC).

Gaj Utsav is usually held in the month of March every year.

During the festival, elephants are decorated with colorful paint and dressed in vibrant clothes, and a parade is held with the elephants marching through the streets. There are also several competitions and games involving the elephants, such as polo matches and races.

The festival aims to raise awareness about the importance of conservation and protection of elephants in India. It also provides an opportunity for locals and tourists to celebrate the beauty and majesty of these gentle giants.
