Shifting wind conditions forced pilots to execute a standard go-around procedure before successfully landing on second attempt.
An IndiGo flight approaching Guwahati airport on Wednesday was forced to abort its landing and execute a safety maneuver due to suddenly changing wind conditions, according to passenger reports.
Flight 6E 2038, an Airbus A321 aircraft traveling from Delhi to Guwahati, was on final approach when pilots made the decision to pull up and circle the area rather than attempt to land in potentially hazardous conditions.
A passenger aboard the flight reported that the captain made an announcement explaining that the aborted landing was necessary due to shifting winds that had created unsafe conditions for touchdown at that moment.
“The aircraft handled the situation smoothly, but it was definitely noticeable when we suddenly began climbing again instead of landing,” said one passenger who witnessed the incident. “The captain’s prompt explanation helped keep everyone calm.”
After circling the area to reposition, the flight crew made a second approach and successfully landed the aircraft at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at 12:51 pm. No injuries or further incidents were reported during the maneuver.
