Indian Railways will operate Festival Special trains connecting New Tinsukia in Assam with Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT), Bengaluru, from September 18 to November 3, officials from South Central Railway announced.
Train No. 05952 New Tinsukia–SMVT Bengaluru will depart on Thursdays between September 18 and October 30, while Train No. 05951 SMVT Bengaluru–New Tinsukia will run on Mondays from September 22 to November 3. Each direction will have seven services.
The long-haul specials will halt at major stations including Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, North Lakhimpur, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, New Cooch Behar, Kishanganj, Malda Town, Barddhaman, Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar, Brahmapur, Vizianagaram, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Nellore, Gudur, Perambur, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Bangarapet and Krishnarajapuram.
Railway officials said the move is aimed at addressing the surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season, ensuring additional connectivity between the Northeast and southern India. The extensive route will traverse Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu before reaching Karnataka.
Timings, fares and reservation details will be made available through official Indian Railways channels and booking platforms, officials added.
