In Assam, women have more sexual partners than men – National Family Health Survey

In 11 states, including Assam, women have more sexual partners than men on average. In these states, however, 4 percent of men have sex with other women in the dark. In contrast, 0.5 percent of women had sex with other men without their husbands’ knowledge.

The figures come from the most recent National Family Health Survey. The Union Ministry of Family Welfare conducted the survey. The survey covered 1.1 lakh women and 100,000 men, according to News1

The states and union territories with more sexual partners for women than men are Assam, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. Rajasthan topped the list in this category.

The fifth National Family Health Survey was conducted in 2019-2021. The survey touched 707 districts in 28 states. The government collected this data to determine socio-economic indicators that help the government formulate policies and schemes.
