The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast warning of very heavy rainfall across northeastern states and heat wave conditions in northern regions today.
Very Heavy Rainfall Alert for Northeast
The weather department has forecast very heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, and South Interior Karnataka today, prompting authorities to remain on high alert for potential flooding and waterlogging in these regions.
Heavy rainfall is also expected to lash multiple states including Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana, South Madhya Maharashtra, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar throughout the day.
Thunderstorm and Lightning Warning
The IMD has predicted isolated to scattered light and moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Marathwada, Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa regions. Residents in these areas have been advised to stay indoors during peak weather activity and avoid open areas.
Heat Wave Grips Northern States
While the eastern and southern regions brace for heavy downpours, northern states continue to experience severe heat wave conditions. Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and northern Madhya Pradesh are expected to witness intense heat throughout the day.
The weather department has also forecast warm night conditions in Eastern Madhya Pradesh, providing little respite from the ongoing summer heat.
