The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule and venues for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 on Monday, with Guwahati’s Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium selected as one of the key venues. The tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will run from September 30 to November 2, 2025, bringing top-tier women’s cricket to fans across the two nations.
Venues for the Tournament
The ICC has designated five stadiums for the 2025 Women’s World Cup:
- M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
- ACA Stadium, Guwahati
- Holkar Stadium, Indore
- ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam
- R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo
Tournament Highlights
The tournament kicks off with hosts India playing their opening match in Bengaluru, marking the return of the Women’s World Cup to India after a 12-year gap. Matches will be spread across the five venues, with knockout fixtures planned flexibly based on team progression. The first semi-final is scheduled for October 29 in either Guwahati or Colombo, while the second semi-final will take place in Bengaluru on October 30. The grand final is set for November 2, to be hosted in either Bengaluru or Colombo, with Colombo hosting the first semi-final and final only if Pakistan qualifies for those stages.
Qualified Teams for ICC Women’s World Cup 2025
Eight teams will compete in the tournament. Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and hosts India earned direct qualification. Pakistan and Bangladesh secured the remaining two spots through the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers held in Lahore earlier this year. Australia, the defending champions, have dominated the competition, winning seven of the 12 editions held so far.
A Milestone for Guwahati
The inclusion of Guwahati’s ACA Stadium as a venue underscores the city’s growing prominence in international cricket. Fans in Assam can look forward to witnessing world-class cricket action, potentially including a semi-final, as the world’s best women’s teams vie for the prestigious title.
