Guwahati has been selected for the 2023 Cricket World Cup in Assam

The news that Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium is on the short list to host the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup is a big deal in cricket.

According to EspnCricinfo, the 2023 Cricket World Cup final will take place in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India, on November 19. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made this announcement.

48 matches will be played over 46 days during the event, which will start on October 5 and be held in 12 cities across India. Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, and Mumbai are some of the cities on the list.

The final of the Cricket World Cup will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, which can hold 130,000 people. It will join the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 1987 and the Wankede Stadium in Mumbai in 2011.

The announcement was put off because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) got the Pakistan cricket team a tax break and permission to enter India.

Normally, the ICC releases the World Cup schedule a year in advance, but this time the delay prevented the ICC from doing so.

According to sources, the Barsapara Stadium would serve as the location for the Cricket World Cup in Guwahati (ACA Stadium).

The stadium, which can accommodate 25,000 people, was constructed in 2017. Both the Northeast Frontier Railway cricket team and the Assam cricket team call it home.

Also, it serves as the venue for Indian Premier League games. The Board of Cricket Control in India has authorized the venue to host international cricket matches (BCCI).
