Punjabi singer-songwriter Guru Randhawa has partnered with the Sikh Aid Foundation to build 35 flood-proof homes for families in Assam's Sivasagar, Jorhat and Nepali Khuti areas. Randhawa has contributed ₹7 lakh toward the project.
The initiative marks Randhawa's second flood relief contribution in Assam. He had earlier donated ₹5 lakh to the Hello Life Foundation, channelled through digital creator Dimpu Baruah, for food, clothing, medical supplies and other essentials for displaced families.
Other public figures have also contributed to Assam flood relief efforts through Sikh organisations, including Salman Khan, Randeep Hooda, and content creators Fukra Insaan and Triggered Insaan.
Randhawa has previously supported disaster relief outside Assam. During the Punjab floods, he set up relief camps in Dera Baba Nanak and Dharowali, and his team financed home reconstruction and provided cattle feed and wheat seeds to affected farmers.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Randhawa donated ₹20 lakh from his personal savings to the PM-CARES Fund.
