A goods train derailed in Assam’s Kamrup district on Sunday afternoon, though no injuries or casualties were reported, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) confirmed.
The incident took place at 12:42 p.m. between Changsari and Baihata stations, where two wagons of the train went off the tracks. NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said, “No one was injured in the incident. Restoration work is underway at full capacity.”
Railway officials said operations were only partially affected, with one line remaining open to traffic, ensuring that regular passenger train services continued without disruption. Work to restore the affected line is being carried out on priority.
