Gauhati University Controller of Examinations, Dr. Dhruwajyoti Chowdhury, has been suspended. The university authorities announced this in a demonstration uploaded on the university website. The directive said that the controller faced punishment for delaying the results of the 2022 undergraduate examinations.
The university’s disciplinary proceedings were underway against the controller. The suspension will be effective under the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964, until further notice.
Meanwhile, Dr. Debahari Talukdar has been appointed as the new Controller of Examinations of Guwahati University. The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pratap Jyoti Handique, has approved the appointment of Dr. Talukdar.
Dr. Debahari Talukdar was in charge of the Deputy Controller of Examinations of the University. The authorities have requested Dr. Debahari Talukdar to take over as the Controller from Dr. Dhruwajyoti Chowdhury.
It is worth mentioning that in the past, there were often irregularities in the results of the undergraduate level. The students had to protest on the university premises. The results of the fifth-semester examinations announced recently showed widespread irregularities. There were several other irregularities in the results of most of the students who sat the examination. The results were irregular, and the Guwahati University campus was in turmoil. However, the students faced police brutality while participating in the protest, which shook the entire state.
