Former Minister and MLA in Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr Ardhendu Kumar Dey, passed away at GMCH at 1:30 AM due to cancer. Dey had had cancer for a long time.
Dr. Ardhendu Kumar Dey was 84 years old at the time of his death. The body of the former minister will be taken to Hojai today.
Dey was the leader of the Congress party from 1991 to 2021. He was the MLA of Hojai from 1991 to 2006. He was re-elected as an MLA from Hojai from 2011 to 2016. Ardhendu Dey was a minister in the Tarun Gogoi government. Later, In April 2021, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party.
Dr. Ardhendu Kumar Dey is a former Assam Irrigation and Soil Conservation Minister. The body of the former minister will be taken to Hojai today.
Taking to Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said – “Deeply saddened by the demise of veteran leader, former Minister and MLA of Hojai Dr Ardhendu De. In his long political career, he contributed immensely towards public welfare. My condolences to the bereaved and prayers for the departed soul. Om Shanti!”
