On Friday, a newborn baby girl was sold for Rs 6000 in the Bishwanath district of Assam. The incident took place in the Gohpur area of the district. Police have arrested 3 people in the case.
Sushil Kumar Dutta, officer-in-charge of Gohpur police station, said the father had sold his daughter in the Lakhimpur district. The girl has been rescued safely.
Police said that the father of the accused who was caught had complained to the police station. The complainant said that my daughter-in-law gave birth to a girl child on August 11 at Gohpur Government Hospital. My son said the girl died in the hospital, but I doubted him. I inquired about the birth of the girl child in the hospital; then, the entire disclosure came to light.
A case was registered against the accused father and a woman at Gohpur police station, and an investigation was started. Both the accused confessed to their crime. After this, the police came to know that the third accused was Krishna Prasad Upadhyay of the Lakhimpur district. After arresting the three, the gang selling newborn children is being traced.
