Representing the Mangaldoi Lok Sabha constituency, Dilip Saikia has steadily emerged as a leading parliamentary voice from the Northeast, noted for his active participation, policy interventions, and consistent attendance in the House.
A grassroots leader and former General Secretary of the BJP, Saikia has raised significant questions related to regional development, national security, and infrastructure, especially concerning Assam’s connectivity and border issues. His efforts have also focused on youth empowerment, agriculture, and internal security.
Known for his articulate interventions, Saikia has played a key role in debates that resonate with both national priorities and regional aspirations. His recognition as a Sansad Ratna Awardee is a testimony to his dedicated public service and effectiveness as a legislator.
The Sansad Ratna Awards, instituted in 2010 on the suggestion of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, honour outstanding parliamentarians based on objective data from PRS Legislative Research and Lok Sabha records.
This year’s recipients include high-performing MPs such as Supriya Sule (NCP-SP), Ravi Kishan (BJP), Nishikant Dubey (BJP), and Arvind Sawant (Shiv Sena-UBT). Special Jury Awards were conferred on Bhartruhari Mahtab, N K Premachandran, Supriya Sule, and Shrirang Appa Barne for maintaining top performance across three consecutive Lok Sabhas.
