The Northeast Eastern States needed CNG facilities for several years while CNG is being used as the mainstream fuel in other metro cities. On the eve of the new year, Assam’s chief minister informed that at least 25 CNG stations would be installed in a different part of the state by March 2023.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma debuted 100 CNG buses throughout the state on January 1 as a New Year’s gift to the region. He said this is the first time such initiatives have been launched in Assam.
“ASTC will stop operating diesel-run city buses. Our goal is to completely replace diesel-run buses with electric and CNG buses in Guwahati by the day this government completes one year,” CM Sarma said. Two filling stations have been set up to supply CNG to the new buses, which will operate in phases.

Currently, ISBT in Betkuchi has one of the two fueling stations, and Ulubari has the other.
