Ranoj Pegu, education minister of Assam, laid the foundation stone for constructing a government law college at Chiripul in Cachar.
This will be the first government law college in the Barak Valley and one of the nine new government law colleges.

Ranoj Pegu said, “There are only a handful of government law colleges in the state. So, it has decided to build nine new law colleges. A sum of Rs 15.50 crore has been allocated for the construction of the law college at Chiripul in Lakhipur sub-division of Cachar district,”

He added, “According to the state government’s decision, the foundation stone of one of the nine government law colleges of the state was laid in Lakhipur today,”
On Friday, the minister reached Silchar and visited different schools and took part in the evaluation phase as it was the third day of Gunotsav on Saturday. He had an interactive session with the students and exchanged ideas with both students and teachers of the school.
