The inaugural Bodoland CEM Cup 1.0, a district-level football competition, was launched with a vibrant opening ceremony at Rowmari Derhasar Playground in Chirang on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in the region’s sports calendar.
The event was graced by prominent figures, including MLA Sildi and Chairman of the District Level Committee of the Bodoland CEM Cup, Nirmal Kumar Brahma; District Commissioner of Chirang, Jatin Bora; former MCLA Maothi Brahma Hazoary; OSD to the Hon’ble CEM, Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), and General Secretary of the Assam Football Association, Dr. Sangrang Brahma; and Working President of the Bodoland Sports Association, Chandra Kanta Brahma. Their attendance underscored the tournament’s importance and the robust institutional backing it enjoys.
Also present were Advisors to the Chirang District Sports Association (CDSA), the General Secretary of CDSA, Chairpersons of the Town Committee Level Coordination Committees (TCLCCs), and Chairmen of the Village Council Development Committees (VCDCs). Their participation highlighted the collaborative spirit of local bodies in driving the success of this initiative.
The Bodoland CEM Cup 1.0 aims to provide a dynamic platform for young athletes to display their skills, promote sportsmanship, and foster peace and unity across the Bodoland Territorial Region.
