Assamese film actress Nandini Kashyap has been accused in a serious hit-and-run incident that has left a young municipal worker critically injured in Guwahati. The accident occurred around saturday midnight in the Dakhingaon area, where the actress allegedly struck the victim with her speeding vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The victim, identified as Samiul Haque, was working with a Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) streetlight repair team when he was hit. Eyewitnesses claim Kashyap was driving at a speed exceeding 120 km/h when her vehicle rammed into the youth. She allegedly did not stop to offer assistance and instead left the scene immediately.
Fellow GMC workers pursued the vehicle and traced it to an apartment complex in Kahilipara, where Kashyap reportedly attempted to conceal the car. A confrontation followed, during which the actress allegedly assaulted a bystander who was recording the incident on a mobile phone.
Samiul is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). According to his family, he sustained severe head injuries, multiple leg fractures, and broken bones in both his thigh and arm. Doctors have described his condition as critical and recommended he be transferred to a hospital in Patna for advanced care.
Family members allege that Nandini Kashyap initially assured them she would bear the cost of medical treatment but later reneged on that commitment. “She told us she would help, but yesterday she informed us that she is no longer responsible,” a relative of the victim said.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many users calling for the actress’s immediate arrest. The backlash has been amplified by Kashyap’s recent popularity following her performance in the Assamese film Rudra.
As of now, no formal arrest has been made. Guwahati Police have launched an investigation and confirmed that hit-and-run charges are under consideration. Authorities are currently reviewing eyewitness accounts, video footage, and forensic evidence from the scene.
