The Assam government will roll out Orunodoi 3.0 from September 17, aiming to provide direct financial assistance to 40 lakh beneficiaries across the state. The announcement was made during a press conference led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Under the new phase, beneficiaries will not only receive regular monetary support but also benefit from a pilot project offering ₹250 as LPG purchase assistance, reflecting a broader focus on household welfare. Officials said the selection letters, LPG enrolment forms, and a specially curated book will be delivered to each recipient’s home to ensure transparency and reduce procedural delays.
As part of the expanded outreach, Orunodoi 3.0 will include several enhancements over previous phases. The government will ensure that all 40 lakh beneficiaries are personally reached with key documents and guidance to access their entitlements. This doorstep delivery initiative aims to streamline the onboarding process and reduce dropout rates from the scheme.
The scheme continues to serve as Assam’s largest direct benefit transfer (DBT) initiative, targeting women-headed households, economically disadvantaged families, and now includes provisions for LPG affordability as fuel costs rise.
The Orunodoi scheme, first launched in 2020, has steadily evolved into a central pillar of Assam’s social safety net. With the launch of its 3.0 version, the government reinforces its commitment to inclusive welfare, household empowerment, and economic resilience for vulnerable populations.
