The Assam government on Saturday, August 30, suspended Mukul Bhuyan, Superintendent of Central Jail, Nagaon, with immediate effect following a report submitted by the Inspector General of Prisons.
According to an official release, the action was based on findings from a surprise inspection carried out by the District Commissioner of Nagaon on Friday, August 29. The Home and Political Department issued the suspension order under Rule 6(1)(a) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964.
Officials said the decision was taken “in the interest of maintaining discipline within the public service.” During his suspension, Bhuyan will receive subsistence allowance in accordance with Fundamental Rule 53 and remain bound by the Assam Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965.
Authorities have not disclosed details of the inspection report or the specific reasons behind the suspension.
