For the first time, Guwahati has been named a key venue for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka in 2025. The ACA Barsapara Cricket Stadium will host four matches, including the opening ceremony and the India–Sri Lanka tournament opener on September 30. Additional fixtures are slated for October 3, 7 and 10, with all matches scheduled as 50-over day-night contests from 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. One of the semifinals may also be awarded to either Guwahati or Colombo on October 29.
Guwahati’s international cricket calendar will also feature the second Test between India and South Africa from November 22–28, 2025, along with a T20 league match earlier in the year.
Officials said preparations are underway to deliver world-class facilities. The Public Works Department has been tasked with assessing venue infrastructure, while traffic police and logistics teams will be deployed for crowd and mobility management. Departments have been directed to prepare execution plans to ensure smooth conduct of the events.
