Assam Police Officers Serving Over Three Years to Be Transferred, Assures DGP

DGP Assam GP Singh

Following the mysterious death of female police officer Junmoni Rabha, Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP), G.P. Singh, announced on Saturday that all officers, starting from the inspector level, who have served more than three years at a single location, will be transferred within the next 48 hours.

An order has already been issued for the transfer of four SP-rank officers, including Superintendent of Police of Nagaon district, Leena Doley. Doley has been embroiled in controversy following Rabha’s death, with Rabha’s mother accusing her of being responsible. Rabha, who was serving as a Sub-inspector in the Nagaon district, was reportedly investigating a case related to a fake gold racket.

DGP Singh also addressed the issue of illegal activities in the state, promising to eliminate rackets trafficking in fake gold and currency notes within a month. He said that directions have been given to the concerned officers to crack down on these rackets.

As per Singh, 71 individuals connected to these rackets were detained on Friday, with fake currency and gold bars being recovered. The DGP also disclosed that mobile phone records of the accused are currently being examined to identify others involved in such illegal operations.
