The terror module was operating from a madrasa and was reportedly planning a major attack on the State. The Assam Police received information about it from the intelligence agency, after which the Police swung into action and arrested the suspected jihadist. Jamiul Hudda Madrassa, the madrassa run by Mustafa, reportedly used as a hub of fundamentalist activities, has also been sealed by Police.

Mufti Mustafa is said to be the mastermind of the terror module. He runs the Jami-ul-Huda madarasa since 2018 in Moirabari. The Police also seized several incriminating documents, mobile phones, bank passbooks, and other material from Mufti Mustafa’s possession. With this, the Police detained eight clerics of the madrasa for interrogation. It is being told that one Ansarullah from Bangladesh was funding him. Apart from this, the madrasa also got funding from many other countries.

It is worth mentioning that Mufti Mustafa had gone to Bhopal, where he took religious teaching, and after returning home, he set up the madrassa at his home.

Police sources said Mustafa was probably radicalized during his stay in Bhopal, and there are reports of his links with Bangladesh-based fundamentalist organizations.

Also, Four people were detained in Guwahati on charges of having links with jihadists. Police arrested Shahanur Alam from Hatigaon on suspicion of having links with the jihadists and later arrested three other associates of Shahanur.

The detained were identified as Magror Ali, Siddique Ali, and Asmat Ali, respectively. The three were arrested from Sijubari Khankah in Hatigaon Police later arrested Shahanur Alam. The four were taken into custody by the Barpeta police. They are currently being sent to Barpeta by the city police.
