Captain Jintu Gogoi, a native of Assam, was commissioned into the Indian Army and displayed exceptional gallantry during the 1999 Kargil War. While leading operations against enemy positions in the Batalik sector, he fought with remarkable determination before making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. For his conspicuous bravery and leadership, he was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra, one of India's highest wartime gallantry awards.
