Police in Guwahati, Assam, arrested a 35-year-old man who they say tried to kill a 5-month-old baby after he got into an argument with his wife.
The person who was detained is a daily wage worker from the Guwahati city neighbourhood of Kahilipara.
The guy was detained on Saturday as a result of information obtained from a local resident, according to the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) of Guwahati East.

The police officer said that the child’s arms and legs were broken because his father had beaten him.
“The father fought with his wife on Saturday and then attacked his child.” “The woman and child both suffered wounds, and they are both receiving care at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH),” the DCP stated.
He said that the police used different parts of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) to file a case against the accused without being asked.
“After the event, he ran away, but police caught him.” “He will now appear before the court, and the situation will be looked at more thoroughly,” he continued.
People who know about the situation say that the baby had a few surgeries on Saturday while the mother was also being treated.
